Quick post today. I meant to post up my predictions yesterday but was travelling most of the day, so didn’t get a chance. So here they are.
Saturday
Strikers v Hurricanes – Hurricanes
Heat v Scorchers – Heat
Sixers v Stars – Sixers
Thunder v Renegades – Renegades
Sunday
Scorchers v Strikers – Scorchers
Heat v Hurricanes – Heat
Thunder v Stars – Thunder
It’s always hard to beat the Heat at home and look for a big weekend from Grace “Bubbles” Harris this weekend after missing out due to two run-outs last weekend. (Seriously, who is unlucky enough to get run out twice in two games?) I’m predicting they’ll win both matches at home this weekend, and for the match on Sunday against the Hurricanes to be a cracker.
The ‘Canes have shown they can bat all the way down, but the Heat bowlers have been bowling well, and on their home ground, I expect them to have the edge.
Meg Lanning will also want to atone for her 2 from 7 in the Scorchers last match, and Jemma Barsby will want to win the battle over her old teammates, so I’m predicting the banter to be
The Sixers will be too strong for the Stars on Saturday, and I think the Thunder will have the edge over them on Sunday as well. The Stars haven’t quite managed to get going, and they lack the number of bigger name stars that most of the other teams have. If Elyse Villani and Lizelle Lee can get going though, they can post some big totals.
The Renegades have a strong line-up, and if they bring Jess Duffin back up the batting order, they’ll be hard to beat against the Thunder on Saturday, although they’ll need a healthy total to combat what is growing into a strong middle-order combination of Blackwell and Litchfield. Thunder’s top order hasn’t really gotten going yet either, and if Priest gets her eye in, they’ll be hard to beat.
The Thunder then take on the Stars on Sunday and again, I think they’ll just be way too strong for the Stars.
However things pan out, t’s going to be another cracking weekend of cricket.
